Why we started it

We kept seeing the same patio.

Dropped near the house. Water sitting on it. Slabs rocking after two winters. Lift one and the story is always the same underneath — a bit of sand, some loose hardcore, no membrane, no compaction, no falls.

On a civils site that work would be pulled up and done again. Nobody would sign it off. Yet in domestic gardens it is close to standard, and homeowners pay four figures for it twice: once to have it laid, and again a few years later to have it put right.

So we do the groundworks to the standard we were trained to, and we publish what it costs. That is the whole idea.

How we work

We dig. A specialist lays.

The groundworks — the dig-out, the sub-base, the compaction, the falls, the drainage and the edge restraints — we do ourselves. That is the part that fails and the part we are trained for.

For the finish we bring in a time-served paver, because laying is its own trade and we would rather use somebody who does it every day than pretend otherwise. You contract with us, we pay them, and we carry the guarantee. One price, one invoice, one number to ring.

Being straight about where we are

Early days, and we would rather say so.

The company is new, so we are not going to claim decades of trading or hundreds of jobs. What we can tell you is that the people doing the work have been doing it a long time, that our prices are published, and that the guarantee is written down with its exclusions in plain sight.

Early customers get two people who very much want the job to go well. That is worth something.
